Ingulets must make a final decision by 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 10
Today an online meeting of the clubs took place UPLwhere the president’s statement was discussed Ingulets Alexander Povoroznyuk about the possible withdrawal of the club from the 2024/25 championship. The statement was made after the lack of permission to hold the next home match on September 14 against Chornomorets at the club’s newly built stadium Ingulets Arena.
7 out of 16 clubs abstained or refused to advocate for a radical decision in the form of Ingulets’ withdrawal from the UPL. The online meeting resulted in two proposed options for Ingulets. The first was to play against Chornomorets at a reserve stadium (the Gornyak stadium in Kryvyi Rih was declared as such). The second option was to hold a match with Chornomorets in Odessa, and use the next two weeks to resolve documentary issues and obtain the necessary permission to hold matches at Ingulets Arena, namely: obtaining an act on the compliance of the sports facility with technical standards (issued by the State Inspectorate of Architecture and Urban Development of Ukraine).
Ingulets must make a final decision on these two options by 14:00 on Tuesday, September 10. If both options are rejected by the club, the club will be removed from the 2024/25 UPL competition, and its further status will be considered by the UAF.
Let us recall that in each of the five opening matches of the 2024/25 UPL (as well as in the Ukrainian Cup), the team from Petrovo played away. The debut at home was supposed to take place on September 14 in the match of the 6th round against Chornomorets.
It is reported that construction work has already been completed at the stadium. However, Ingulets is still not given permission to hold matches in Petrovo due to the lack of documents on the commissioning of the arena.
UPL President Yevhen Dykyi stated that the new Ingulets stadium is not included in the list of arenas approved for hosting UPL matches.
Acting head coach of Ingulets Vasily Kobin stated that the club’s president, Alexander Povoroznyuk, made a firm decision to withdraw the club from the UPL competition in connection with the current situation.
Let us recall that the First League recently lost one of its participants – Khust officially announced its withdrawal from the competition.
Ingulets is one of three teams that have not yet won in the UPL. Vasyl Kobin’s team has scored three points in five rounds and is in 14th place. In the last round, Ingulets was routed by Rukh with a score of 0:5.
