Beijing 2022 Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Veronika Stepanova in her column on , she spoke of a dream that has yet to come true due to restrictions on holding international competitions in Russia.
The International Ski Federation (FIS) has suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions under the auspices of the organization due to the situation in Ukraine. World Cup stages cannot take place on the territory of the Russian Federation.
– My parents were the last time at the competitions where I ran… you know, I don’t even remember when! I haven’t played in Kamchatka for a long time. And they never came to All-Russian or international competitions – far and expensive.
Does that mean I feel left out? Of course not. My parents worry, get sick and support me. After the Olympics, I had a dream – to invite them to the World Cup in Tyumen, but all plans fell apart when the FIS canceled the starts in Russia, – wrote Stepanova.
