Athletistic/ Figure Skating. Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova commented on the decision of Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda to deprive Lithuanian figure skaters Margarita Drobyazko and Povilas Vanagas of state awards because of their participation in the ice show “Swan Lake by Tatyana Navka.
“For them, acting in the show with Tanya Navka and Ilya Averbukh was the only job, there is nothing like it in Lithuania, this decision is madman’s nonsense. They have been here all their life to work, they have nowhere to go go, there is no show in their country, you can only express condolences, such decisions are made in a country where there is no laws – it’s anarchy,” Tarasova said.
Margarita Drobyazko and Povilas Vanagas are deprived of the orders of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Gediminas. Figure skaters competed in ice dancing, and in this discipline they won the Lithuanian championships 13 times and twice became European champions. Vanagas and Drobyazko have been married since 2000.
