Athletistic/ Others. International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach said it was still not recommended to invite athletes from Russia and Belarus to international tournaments.
“Now is not the time to change recommendations or attitudes. We still do not recommend inviting Russian or Belarusian athletes to competitions. There are still no anthems, no flags, no national colors,” Bach said.
For the first time, the IOC President made such a recommendation in February after the start of Russia’s special military operation on the territory of Ukraine. Since then, Russian and Belarusian athletes in most sports have not been eligible to participate in international competitions, in some sports – for example, tennis – they are allowed to participate in a neutral status.
