Figure skater Anna Shcherbakova dancing in ice dancing with Egor Goncharov told she was flattered by comparisons to the Olympic singles skating champion and her all-around namesake.
Last season, the Shcherbakova/Goncharov duo took third place in the Russian Championship and first in the Grand Prix Final among juniors.
— You are constantly compared to Olympic champion Anya Shcherbakova, aren’t you tired of it?
— Sometimes it is flattering, because Anya Shcherbakova is a great athlete. When I am put on the same level as her, it is of course incredibly pleasant. I will tell you a funny story. I was going to train at six in the morning by taxi, the driver asked me: “Where are you going so early? What are you doing?” I start to tell him, then he asks me to name him. I answer, he asks: “Are you the same Anya Shcherbakova?” She replied that she was not the same yet, but just a namesake.
