Irina Gerashchenko took third place in Brussels
Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslav Maguchikh won the final for the third year in a row Diamond League.
Today, in Brussels, Maguchikh and Australian Nikola Olislagers cleared the height of 1.97 m (Yaroslava on her first attempt, Nikola on her second). Both athletes missed the next height of 1.99 m, but no one conquered the height of 2.01 m, so Maguchikh took first place in the number of attempts.
Maguchikh previously won the Diamond League final in 2022 and 2023.
Another Ukrainian, Irina Gerashchenkotook third place in today’s final, clearing the bar at a height of 1.92 m. This Diamond League final was the second in the career of the 29-year-old Ukrainian – last year Gerashchenko took seventh place.
Maguchikh and Gerashchenko took similar places on the podium at the Olympic Games in Paris – Yaroslava won gold and Irina won bronze.
Let us recall that on July 7, Maguchikh broke the world record for high jump, which had stood since 1987 – Yaroslava cleared a height of 2.10 m at the Diamond League stage in Paris.
