Five-time Olympic cross-country skiing champion Johannes Klebo admitted that he missed competing with Russian skiers.
The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes in 2022.
– I haven’t spoken to them. We’ve always had communication problems because of the language barrier. Of course, it’s a shame that they’re not allowed to participate, because they are good skiers with whom we’ve had many nice and principled races. But there is an external context that remains unchanged for now.
“My attitude towards this has not changed – yes, there are not enough intense duels with them, but at the same time I understand that now everything is like this. Against this background, skiing has become poorer,” Klebo was quoted as saying by Nettavisen.
