Olympic figure skating champion Alina Zagitova submitted an application to the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives to receive a grant for its ice show.
As reported on the foundation’s website, Zagitova submitted an application on September 10 for a grant for the implementation of the Scarlet Sails ice show, scheduled for 2025 and to be held in St. Petersburg. The requested amount is 74,798,618 rubles; no co-financing or other investments are provided.
— The project “Scarlet Sails Ice Show” is a unique combination of literature, music, dance and figure skating. It will allow the development of new formats of shows, combining tradition and modernity, and will attract the attention of the general public to both classical Russian literature and modern performing art.
An ice show can become not only an entertaining event, but also an educational and upbringing tool. Viewers will be able to learn more about the work of Alexander Green, about his heroes and their values. A charity show will allow Russian residents of the Kursk and Belgorod regions, as well as families participating in the Northern Military District, to get acquainted with the “Scarlet Sails” in the form of an ice show, which will make culture more accessible to those who are in the conflict zone, the justification says.
It is worth noting that the goals of the show are “to introduce families with children to the great Russian works and the Russian literary language using the example of staging an ice show”, “to create a unique cultural product that will become a symbol of “Scarlet Sails” for a new generation” and “to increase interest in Russian culture, literature and language, including the example of successful young ambassadors in the person of Alina Zagitova.”
Zagitova is 22 years old and won gold at the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang. The athlete has also won victories at the World and European Championships. In 2019, she put her career on hold.
