For the last two seasons, Stepan Matviyev was Roman Grigorchuk’s assistant at Chornomorets
Rock 1911 announced the appointment Stepana Matviiv for the post of head coach.
In this position, Matviyev replaced Mikhail Basarab, whose departure from the position of head coach became known yesterday.
Stepan Matviyiv has worked as an assistant to Roman Grigorchuk at Odessa’s Chornomorets for the past two seasons. He worked on Grigorchuk’s coaching staff from 2011 to 2014, witnessing one of the most successful periods in the history of the Odessa club, culminating in its performances in the Europa League. Matviyiv later assisted Grigorchuk at Azerbaijan’s Gabala.
As a head coach, 56-year-old Matviyiv worked with a number of Ukrainian clubs, including: Borysfen, Metalurh D, Knyazha, Prykarpattya, Kalush.
