Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslav Maguchikh nominated for the title the best European track and field athlete in 2024.
A total of ten athletes are vying for the honorary title. In addition to the Ukrainian, the list of nominees includes Nadia Battocletti (Italy), Femke Bol (Netherlands), Sifan Hassan (Netherlands), Keely Hodgkinson (Great Britain), Natalia Kaczmarek (Poland), Malaika Mihambo (Germany), Yemisi Ogunleye (Germany), Sirena Samba-Mayela (France), Nafissatou Thiam (Belgium).
This year, Yaroslava won gold at the 2024 Olympic Games, and also became the European Champion and the Diamond League winner. In July, Maguchikh broke the world record in high jump, which had stood since 1987 – Yaroslava cleared 2.10 m at the Diamond League stage in Paris.
Voting for the best athletes takes place on official website European Athletic. The survey will run until September 29. The official award ceremony will take place on October 26 in Skopje.
