Lviv residents took points from the championship leader Dynamo
Head coach Rukha Vitaly Ponomarev was pleased with the performance in the match with Dynamo (0:0) in the seventh round Ukrainian Premier League.
“This is an important result for us from a psychological point of view. If we analyze the teams’ lineups, Dynamo is still superior to Rukh in skill. The Kyivans have many players who play for the Ukrainian national team, while we have youth team players. We still have room to grow, and this draw will give the guys self-confidence.”
“Rukh managed to play the football that our club promotes. We try to play like that against every opponent. I think the fans liked this match, because both teams had their moments. At the end of the match, we wanted to at least hold on to a draw, because each team had a chance to score.”
“There were no substitutions made earlier, because the players who came out in the starting lineup played this game quite well. The same Yuri Klimchuk was eager to get on the field, but we understand that he has recovered from a serious injury, so we don’t want to force things. When Yura is fully ready, he will play in all the matches. We are glad that he returned, because Klimchuk will bring a lot of benefit to Rukh.”
“We didn’t keep the result of the May match in mind, because the team moves from match to match. It is important for us to face such quality opponents and impose competition on them. It was difficult for us, but it is good that we got a positive result today.”
The yellow-blacks managed to hit the Kiev goal, but Igor Krasnopir’s goal was rightly cancelled due to offside. Then Rukh and Dynamo exchanged shots into the goal frame. The teams created a large number of chances, but were unable to open the scoring.
Rukh is fourth in the UPL with 11 points. In their next match, Ponomarev’s team will host Kolos on September 29.
