Zagitova explained why she did not indicate co-financing in the application for a 75 million ruble grant

Olympic figure skating champion Alina Zagitova responded to criticism over a request for a grant of nearly 75 million rubles.

Earlier, information appeared on the website of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives that Zagitova had applied for a grant for the implementation of the Scarlet Sails ice show, which is scheduled for 2025 and is planned to be held in St. Petersburg. The requested amount is 74,798,618 rubles; no co-financing and other investments are provided.

— We created a good and kind project “Keepers of Time”, not only me, but also a lot of people who invested their soul and time in it! It was very unpleasant to read unpleasant things, wishes for failure and at the same time to keep silent, but we succeeded. The main reward is the look of the audience present in the hall and their gratitude after the performance.

Now my task is to deal with the next part of the hatred, which appeared in the context of the fact that the team and I decided to submit a project for a grant to the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives and to defend our work with the team! I am a superstitious person, that’s why I decided to apply for a grant only after completing the previous project.

Since this is our first experience of participating in the competition, we did not indicate sponsorship or personal resources as co-financing, next time we will definitely correct this design flaw,” Zagitova wrote on the Telegram channel.

According to the figure skater, her new project aims to introduce the younger generation to Russian literature, culture and sports.

— In general, I am new to the production field, but I try to learn from the best people I have attracted to my team. I do not deny that there is still a lot I do not know, but I believe that everything will come with experience. I would also like to note that the theme of youth and its support is widely disseminated in our country, which inspires me to invent new things, to try myself in different industries, because Russia is a country of opportunities, where it is a priority to give way to young people.

As for the project, the initiative is aimed only at giving new colors to the annual festival on the eve of A. Green’s birthday. I would like the whole of St. Petersburg to be covered by “Scarlet Sails” in different genre events. The main task that my team and I pursue is to introduce the younger generation to Russian literature, culture and sports. I also want to provide a holiday from this project not only to St. Petersburg graduates, but also to schoolchildren from Kursk and Belgorod.

I believe that we will be able to implement the project, to make it large-scale and in a friendly manner. Everyone begins one day his career, his creativity, his path, relying on himself, on the team, chance and sometimes even a miracle…

I myself, like Assol, naively count on a miracle, on the fact that the world will become kinder. I wish everyone to dream more, so that your wishes come true. Peace and love to all! – she noted.
