Three-time European weightlifting champion, Ukrainian Dmitri Chumak disqualified for six years for an anti-doping rule violation, according to the website of the International Anti-Doping Agency (ITA).
The 34-year-old’s suspension period begins on June 4, 2021.
Chumak was disqualified for “refusing or failing without reasonable excuse to submit to a sample collection procedure after notification or otherwise evading the collection of a sample,” as well as “tampering or attempting to tamper with any part of an anti-doping control.” It was reported that in May 2021, the weightlifter evaded a doping control and also attempted to bribe an anti-doping officer.
Chumak is a silver and bronze medalist at the world championships.
