Averbukh – about the ISU board: “Nothing has changed in their brains”

Olympic silver medalist in figure skating Ilya Averbukh believes that the International Skating Union (ISU) has not changed its attitude to the situation of exclusion of Russians from international tournaments.

On Thursday, President of the Russian Skating Union Nikolai Gulyaev told that the issue of possible admission of Russian athletes was on the agenda of the ISU Council, which will be held on 27-28 September in Lausanne (Switzerland).

“I don’t want to guess the tea leaves, because there’s an element of humiliation in that.” I consider the suspension of our athletes to be unfair and contrary to every imaginable and inconceivable sporting standard. Therefore, I will not make any comments or ask for a positive solution. When there is a decision, it will be.

In my opinion, nothing has changed today that could change anything in their brains,” Averbukh told .

Russian figure skaters, speed skaters and short track speed skaters are currently suspended from participating in international competitions under the auspices of the ISU.
