Honorary vice-president of the International Skating Union (ISU) Alexander Lakernik told that he was not aware of the admission of Russian juniors to international competitions.
Previously, three-time Olympic figure skating champion and State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina told that the ISU council had decided to allow Russian juniors to participate in international competitions.
“I don’t know if our juniors were allowed in or not.”
– Irina Rodnina said this.
“We have to ask Irina Konstantinovna where she got that from.” I don’t have this information.
— Do we know when the question of our admission will be examined and if a decision will be made?
– I don’t know, honestly. The council meeting has been going on for three days, I haven’t seen the agenda in detail.
— What are your general expectations from the ISU Council meeting?
– You know, I’m not a fortune teller, so my conditional expectations fall into the press. I’m used to measuring things in other categories: a decision has been made, that’s it. As for what I would like the board to agree to, I don’t communicate that way. I am a different type of person, I only talk about what is and not what could be. I don’t know where Irina Konstantinovna got all this from, because, naturally, she didn’t talk about it with me,” Lakernik told .
The ISU Council meeting will take place on September 27-28 in Lausanne (Switzerland). Russian figure skaters, speed skaters and short track speed skaters are currently suspended from participating in international competitions under the auspices of the organization.
