“There were not even any positive movements towards our possible return” – Kryanin, member of the FLGR presidium, about the FIS decision

There have been no discussions or positive movements towards a possible return of Russian skiers, Sergei Kryanin, a member of the presidium of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR), told .

Swedish newspaper Expressen reported on Friday that the International Ski Federation (FIS) has extended the suspension of Russian athletes from participating in tournaments under its auspices for the coming season.

“There haven’t even been any discussions or positive movements towards our possible return. But we don’t focus on that. We have a lot of work to do in the country, a very busy calendar of events for the upcoming season. So there will be enough work and performance for our skiers – there will be competitions almost every week.

— At the same time, is work being carried out to return to international competitions?

— We work according to old agreements, we work according to the rules of the international federation. We’re not going anywhere. We perceive and enforce the sporting rules put in place. The same thing happens here at the stages of the Russian Cup and the Russian Championship: we have the same distances and the same regulations. Everything is respected. This has been worked on for many years and works well now. There are some working relationships, but just to get us in… Of course we would like to perform there, but in Russia we have a lot more work now. It is not up to us to decide when everything will be rebuilt and we can return to international competitions. We have a lot of competition within the country. I think other countries might envy him,” Kryanin told .
