Olympic champion and State Duma deputy Svetlana Jourova told that Russian athletes will return to international competitions after the situation in Ukraine ends.
Earlier, a source told that the council of the International Skating Union (ISU) did not reconsider the issue of admitting Russian athletes to international competitions.
“I would be surprised if we were allowed in, even if the suspension of our skiers was extended. There were all kinds of conversations going on behind the scenes, but when they started speaking publicly, it became clear that the suspension would be extended. Therefore, everything is expected and the thaw will occur when the situation in Ukraine is over,” Bestemyanova told .
Russian figure skaters, speed skaters and short track speed skaters are currently suspended from participating in international competitions under the auspices of the ISU.
