Averbukh – about the ISU’s refusal to reconsider the issue of admitting Russian athletes: “The decision is understandable, because nothing has changed”

Olympic silver medalist in figure skating Ilya Averbukh told that the refusal of the International Skating Union (ISU) council to reconsider the issue of admitting Russian athletes to international competitions is an understandable decision for him.

Earlier, a source told that the ISU had not reconsidered the issue of admitting Russian athletes to international competitions.

– This is not an unexpected decision. How long can the press create these stories with expectations – it’s utter stupidity. For me, this decision is completely understandable, because nothing has changed. And I don’t understand how much this topic can be exploited,” Averbukh told .

The exclusion of Russian athletes from international competitions in figure skating, short track speed skating and speed skating has been in effect since 2022.
