Alexandria beat Krivbass on the road and took first place in the UPL
Head coach Alexandria Ruslan Rotan commented on the victory over Krivbass (1:0) in the eighth round Ukrainian Premier League.
“As for our leadership, it is proven by results and work. We should always think about the result. We agreed with the guys that we don’t look at the standings, but think about each next game, and then we’ll see.”
“We have to work in training and see the game as it is. In terms of achieving results, in terms of requirements. I’m very pleased with the guys that we are working. If we take our game today and compare it with the last championship, we have improved a lot in terms of character, in terms of our thirst for victory. As for the game, I think the coaching staff will always be dissatisfied with something, especially the game.”
“I will not fall for provocations, because you are asking a very pointed question. One of the journalists came up with this Rotan style. There is a specific opponent – Krivbass. What is the strength of Krivbass? Play one on one, prevent the opponent from playing, counterattacks, free space, invasion of zones. Therefore, this is not about Rotan style. When the game is one-on-one, it is very difficult to find a free one. You understand, we got up at 6 am today, got on the bus and came to the game. It will be difficult physically for any team.”
Alexandria won the game by scoring the only goal just before the break. In the second half, Rotan’s team held off the attacks of the home team.
Alexandria single-handedly topped the UPL standings, gaining 19 points after seven matches. In the next round, the Rotan team will host Rukh on October 5.
