Top Rank President Duboeuf: Fury will beat Usyk if he stays focused

According to Todd Duboeuf, Tyson Fury learned his lesson after the first fight with Oleksandr Usyk

President of Top Rank Todd Duboeuf said he believes in the victory of the former WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) in a rematch over the holder of the WBC, IBO, WBA and WBO heavyweight belts Alexander Usik (22-0, 14 KOs) if “The Gypsy King” stays focused in the ring.

“Fury will win if he stays focused, if he doesn’t play. In the middle rounds of the first fight, it seemed that Tyson easily attacked Usik. I think he just became a little apathetic and overconfident.”

“I think Fury learned his lesson and it was a hard one. I also believe that his opponent will be better this time because he will have more confidence. I think Fury’s behavior in the ring is just his character. But I think he doesn’t take anything for granted. I think he learned a hard lesson.”

On the night of May 19, Usik inflicted the first defeat of Fury in his professional career in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.

An agreement has been concluded between Usik and Fury for a re-fight. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he would seek the introduction of video replays in this fight. Oleksandr Usyk will prepare for the rematch in a training camp in Valencia. Tyson Fury has not yet begun training for the fight, saying he will begin training camp six to seven weeks before the fight.
