Dibango: I’m very upset because this is my first serious injury in my professional career

Fullback recovering from injury

Defender Krivbassa Ivan Dibango spoke about his injury, recovery time and desire to return to the football field as quickly as possible.

“Right now I’m very upset because this is my first serious injury in my professional career, because of which I can’t train for a whole month. The pause in my career is a challenge for me. But everyone supports me. I’m sure everything will be fine.”

“I really don’t know how this happened. I remember looking at the ball flying above my head, and then suddenly I felt like an electric shock to my body. That’s all I remember from that moment.”

“First I was in Kyiv, where specialists told me that recovery would last four months. But soon our club doctor contacted me, who reassured me and explained that this is not the first such injury in the team, so from his experience, recovery may take from a month to a month and a half. I believe that everything will be fine and I will be back on the field very soon.”

“To be honest, I shed a manly tear when I started receiving a large number of messages of support from our fans. I feel love and genuine excitement from the fans, which is very nice because they believe that I will return to the field even stronger.”

The 22-year-old football player was injured at the end of the UPL 6th round match against Left Bank (1:0) on September 15. The club reported that an examination showed damage to the ligamentous acromial joint.

Ivan has already successfully undergone surgery. According to forecasts, the estimated time for the Cameroonian’s return to the field is 3-4 weeks.

Dibango has been playing for Krivbass since September 2022. He spent a season and a half on loan from the Estonian Levadia, until the Krivoy Rog club bought out his contract in February of this year.

The African left full-back is considered one of the strongest foreign players in the Ukrainian Premier League. Based on the results of the first half of last season, he was recognized as the best player in Yuri Vernidub’s team. Over two years in Krivbass, Ivan played 62 matches, scored one goal and provided 10 assists. This season he has eight appearances and one assist.

During 2024, Dibango was called up to the Cameroon national team twice, but has yet to make his debut for the team.

Krivbass, with 11 points in seven matches, is in seventh position in the UPL standings. On October 6, Yuri Vernidub’s team will play against Dynamo.
