The hero of the meeting was Senegalese Sima, who scored a double
Brest won an unexpectedly big away win over Salzburg in the second round away match Champions League – 4:0.
The Austrian team, which made it into the general stage of the main European Cup thanks to a victory over Dynamo Kiev on aggregate (2:0, 1:1), started the match actively and could have quickly taken the lead, but Samson Baidu’s goal was canceled due to offside. In the middle of the half, the visitors took the lead – Abdalla Sima scored.
Salzburg tried their best to come back, but in the middle of the second half they received a double blow: first, Mahdi Kamara doubled the score, and then Sima scored a double. For the Senegalese forward, this is already the third goal in the current Champions League – we recall that in the first round, Abdalla brought the tournament debutant victory in a home match with another representative of Austria, Sturm (2:1).
The final score was set by freshly substituted Mathias Pereira Lage. He was assisted by another “joker” – Mama Balde.
Salzburg does not yet have any points or goals scored in the Champions League. In the first round, Pep Lijnders’ team, we recall, was beaten by Sparta (0:3). Brest started the tournament with two victories and temporarily leads the overall standings.
In the third round, Salzburg will host Dinamo Zagreb, and Eric Roy’s team will fight at home with Bayer.
