The State Duma will ask the Russian Foreign Ministry to take personal control of the situation with Lithuanian figure skaters Drobyazko and Vanagas

Chairman of the Committee for Sports and Physical Culture of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Dmitry Svishchev told that he would contact the Russian Foreign Ministry to personally take control of the situation with figure skaters Margarita Drobyazko and Povilas Vanagas.

On Wednesday, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda signed a decree excluding Drobiazko and Vanagas from the list of holders of the Order of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Gediminas, 5th degree. Later, Nauseda said that all the merits of Drobyazko and Vanagas for the country were nullified by the decision to perform in Tatiana Navka’s show in Sochi.

We will follow developments closely. Today, literally now, we are going to turn to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ask them to take this situation under personal control. Guys can’t be left behind. If, God forbid, they are stripped of their citizenship, we just have to help them.

I have never seen such stupid decisions in my life. They deprive their own champions, relatives, relatives of state awards. I have many friends in Lithuania, I loved going there: good people live there. But what their leaders are doing, it doesn’t fit into the spirit. They are looking for any excuse to get to the bottom of everything about Russia. And they haven’t come up with anything smarter than getting to the bottom of their own champions.

Small country, few champions. For each of them you must pray! They made the country famous, boys and girls go to children’s schools by their example, they continue to be fit to perform in shows on a par with the best skaters in the world, ”Svishchev told the correspondent of .

Drobyazko and Vanagas are World Championship bronze medalists and two-time European Championship bronze medalists.
