Figure skater Artem Kovalev spoke about how he felt after performing his free skate at the Moscow Championships.

Kovalev finished third at the Moscow Championship with a score of 236.69 points. In the free program, Kovalev and Egor Rukhin perform to “Sound of silence”.

In October 2023, the skater broke his leg and underwent surgery. The 21-year-old did not compete last season.

“To be honest, I didn’t even have time to be afraid of the competition, because yesterday during the warm-up there was a problem with the blade, today I did not expect this that the points of the previous athlete are counted so quickly . I tried to do everything step by step In principle, I am satisfied, I showed what I managed to achieve in a week and a half. There is still a month left before the stages, if we work in the same mode, then I think we will achieve the desired result.

— Who came up with the idea for the free program?

— It was I who took the initiative. When Yegor Rukhin joined Alexander Sergeevich’s group, I was thinking about which music to take: “Sound of silence” or “Troy”. I hadn’t decided yet, and Egor had already come with “Sound of silence”, so I had no choice. I realized that skating in the same group with someone who has the same music would be a little different. Now Egor left for another coach, I did not think that he would leave this program, so I immediately took “Sound of silence”. I’m always trying to come up with music and see how it goes.

In this program, I try to surpass myself. A person who overcomes all obstacles and barriers. The program was set right after the injuries. The suit is comfortable. We took half of the costume from the original “Sound of Silence” and the other half was an element of a leather jacket, so there was an interesting, non-uniform costume.

– How do you feel, does something hurt?

“It hurts, but it’s my problem.” I think I’ll rest for two days now and everything will be fine.

— At what stages can we be seen?

— It will certainly be Kazan. I don’t know the second step yet. I think either Moscow or St. Petersburg, so that there is a break between the first and second stages, ”reports the correspondent of , reporting Kovalev’s words.

Kovalev took fifth place in the 2023 Russian Championship and became third at the Russian Grand Prix stage.
