Skaters Prokopets and Vaskovich – about the mood in the group of Maslennikova and Averbukh: “We feel supported”

Skaters Alexandra Prokopets And Alexander Vaskovich performing in ice dancing, told that after joining Elena Maslennikova’s group and Ilya Averbukh started to feel calmer and more confident.

On Wednesday, the skaters took third place at the Moscow Championships with a score of 169.74 points. In January, the dance duo joined Averbukh and Maslennikova’s group. Previously, the skaters trained with Svetlana Alekseeva, Elena Kustarova and Olga Ryabinina.

— How do you judge the start of the season?

Procopets: Not bad for a first time. Of course, there is room for improvement and improvement. We are going to work.

Vaskovitch: We will replace some items. We were told what needed to be changed. There are minor defects, some are not minor so you will need to change a few things.

—Why did they change your score for rhythm dancing?

Vaskovitch: We had an error with the base cost of the track. They gave the second level to Sasha, and the third to me, but according to twizzles. In other words, they liked the track for Sasha and the twizzles for me.

– Did you notice it right away?

Vaskovitch: On the subway, they looked at the printout and noticed it.

— Who staged your programs?

Procopets: Directed by Elena Stanislavna [Кустарова]. The idea was invented by Ilya Izyaslavich [Авербух]for which we are very grateful. The whole team acted out and came up with ideas. The choreography was developed with Ekaterina Vladimirovna Dmitrieva. They added something of their own, from the heart.

— What are the programs about?

Vaskovitch: Free dance “Admiral” about love in war. And the rhythm is fiery disco and rock.

— Have you seen “Admiral” by Sonya Akatieva?

Procopets: We looked at it, it turned out to be interesting. In general, I support Sonya. It’s great that she took the risk to pursue such an idea. During the season we will reveal the image of the “Admiral” and the public will be able to enjoy and see two different interpretations – double and single.

— You have made big changes in your life, you joined the group of Elena Maslennikova and Ilya Averbukh. How do you feel?

Procopets: We started to feel more confident and calmer. We feel supported.

— You went to closed skates in Novogorsk. How did they go?

Procopets: We went there for a day. We tried to show everything we had prepared for this day. We walked through the rental without a single item. It went very well. We received feedback and tried to fix everything in a short period of time. I think everything was a success.

— What goals do you set for the season?

Vaskovich: Go to the stages, qualify for the national championship, if we qualify there, then show the best performances there. So that it was with soul, everyone liked everything and we were able to win hearts.

At the 2024 Russian Championships, the skaters took ninth place.
