Ukrainian handball player died in the war with Russia Roman Zaets.

Zayets was a player of the SKA-Lviv team, was a repeated winner of the Lviv Universiade, as well as a bronze medalist at the 2015 Universiade of Ukraine, and a silver medalist at the 2017 Universiade of Ukraine.

The life of Roman Zayets was cut short at the age of 29 – the athlete died on September 27 in the Donetsk direction.

The war continues to take the lives of the best Ukrainians, including those directly or indirectly associated with sports. Let us remind you that at the end of August, world kickboxing champion Roman Golovatyuk passed away. In early September, National Guard soldier and former fencer Igor Khramtsov died in the war with Russia. Also in September, it became known about the death of ex-representative of the Mariupol ultras “Neznayka”, commander of the reconnaissance detachment of the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Also in September, Ukrainian weightlifter and master of sports Nina Pashkevich died.

Early in the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia launched rocket and air bombardments of most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The Russian war against Ukraine has continued for the 954th day.
