Roberto De Zerbi’s team failed to take three points in a game with a championship outsider
The opening match of the 7th round took place French Ligue 1 — Marseilles in native Velodrome tied with Angers (1:1).
The guests were already in the minority in the 26th minute – Ange defender Lilian Rao-Lisoa received a straight red card. However, almost immediately the lineups were equalized – Marseille forward Neal Maupay received two yellow cards in the period from the 27th to the 30th minutes.
The scoring in the match was opened after the break – 21-year-old English forward of Marseille John Rowe, who is on loan from Norwich, scored. But just three minutes later, Angers equalized the score through the efforts of Algerian striker Farid El Melali.
Thus, Marseille scored its 14th point and is now third in the championship standings. Angers still does not know the taste of victory – the newcomer to Ligue 1 has only drawn three times, which is enough to remain in the last 20th place.
Marseille will play their next match on October 20 away against Montpellier, and Angers will play away against Toulouse on the same day.
