Previously, Bolshunov played for the Arkhangelsk region team. During the offseason, the Tatarstan national team was replenished by Veronika Stepanova, Savely Korostelev and Natalya Terentyeva.

Bolshunov is 27 years old. At the 2022 Games in Beijing, he won three gold medals, as well as four silvers and two bronzes. Bolshunov is a world champion, two-time World Cup winner and two-time winner of the Tour de Ski stage race.
