Shovkovsky: We encouraged the players that they should not give in to their opponents in activity and aggression

The Dynamo coach also spoke about the situation with injuries in the team

Head coach Dynamo Alexander Shovkovsky commented on the victory over Krivbass (2:1) in the ninth round Ukrainian Premier League.

“We understood perfectly well what kind of game was expected today. In general, teams led by Yuri Nikolaevich Vernidub are always distinguished by their great desire to play very actively, sometimes aggressively. We set up our players that, first of all, it is in these components that we should not concede to our opponent. Added to this are difficult logistics.”

“It is very good that those players whom I could not attract in the match with Hoffenheim, Andrei Yarmolenko and Vitaly Buyalsky, having missed several days, had one training session and managed to enter the football field today and help us. Because it’s very difficult to play with 12 to 15 players in such a schedule.”

“That’s why from the very beginning of the season we had a roster rotation, we gave everyone the opportunity to play, so that everyone felt like an important part of our team. This is yielding results to a certain extent.”

“After the game with Hoffenheim, we could not count on Pikhalenok and Brazhko. Pikhalenok has a tear in the soleus muscle tendon. This is at least three weeks, then we will see. Not only does Brazhko have damage to his ribs, he also has damage to his adductor muscle. That is why they and Alexander were not called up to the national team.”

“Today, taking into account the fact that Shepelev has problems and Ceballos is recovering, we have 8-10 players left. Therefore, we will attract players from the youth team to conduct the training process. Those players who will remain in Kyiv will have three days off, and then we will work as usual.”

Dynamo beat Krivbass thanks to goals from Valentin Rubchinsky and Vitaly Buyalsky. The Krivoy Rog team managed to reduce the gap in the score after an own goal by Taras Mikhavko, but did not achieve more.

Dynamo leads the UPL with 22 points. In the next match, Shovkovsky’s team will play against Obolon on October 19.
