Transition of the three-time Olympic champion Alexandra Bolshunova joining the Tatarstan national team will contribute to the development of skiing in the region, Minister of Sports of the Republic Vladimir Leonov told .
On Saturday, the president of the Ski Racing Federation of Tatarstan, Ilshat Fardiev, announced the transfer of 27-year-old Bolshunov to the republic’s national team. Previously, the skier competed for the Arkhangelsk region. During the offseason, the Tatarstan national team was also replenished by Veronika Stepanova, Savely Korostelev and Natalya Terentyeva (Nepryaeva).
“The transfer of such an outstanding athlete to the Tatarstan team is a great honor and an opportunity for the development of skiing in the region. I believe that Alexander Bolshunov will be able to share his experience and knowledge with young athletes of Tatarstan, contribute to the development and popularization of cross-country skiing in the republic and attract the younger generation to skiing.

Bolshunov won three gold medals at the 2022 Beijing Olympics and also has four silver and two bronze medals at the Olympics. He is a world champion, two-time World Cup winner and two-time winner of the Tour de Ski stage race.
