Hearn: Mike Tyson fight is dangerous, irresponsible and disrespectful to boxing

“Iron Mike” will face Jake Paul on November 15

Promoter Eddie Hearn criticized the upcoming fight between the legendary ex-world champion Mike Tyson and YouTube blogger and boxer Jake Paul.

“The reality is that 20 years ago, when Mike Tyson retired, he was shot and completely finished.”

“It was really sad to see this back then, 20 years ago. “I admire him—he’s one of my favorite fighters, one of the greatest of all time—but he’s 58 years old.”

“You only have to talk to him and look at him to know that this guy should not be in the ring again. If I were Jake Paul, I might even be a little embarrassed. It’s dangerous, irresponsible and, in my opinion, disrespectful to boxing.”

“When the fight was moved from its original date in July, they should have realized it was actually a bad idea. Everyone loves dollar bills, including me, but sometimes the green-eyed monster can make some bad decisions – and I think this is one of them.”

The fight between “Iron Mike” and Jake Paul will take place on November 15th. The event will take place in Arlington, Texas, at AT&T Stadium.

On June 30, Iron Mike turned 58 years old. In November 2020, Tyson had an exhibition fight with former world champion in five weight categories, Roy Jones. The match ended in a draw. On the undercard of the event, Jake Paul knocked out Nate Robinson.

Tyson had his last professional fight in 2005. Mike lost by TKO in the sixth round to Irishman Kevin McBride.
