World Aquatics has updated the rules for admitting Russian athletes to international competitions under its auspices.
Among the changes to the admission rules, the ban on Russians participating in the program’s team events has disappeared. The new version of the document does not contain the paragraph “Athletes and their support personnel are not entitled to participate in World Swimming Team competitions – in disciplines involving more than one person, where efforts spouses lead to a single result.
At the same time, the ban on communicating with the media during competitions remained in force.
Due to the ban on participating in team competitions, Russian synchronized swimmers were unable to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris – group competitions and duets were recognized as team events.
