Double Olympic swimming champion Evgeny Rylov stated that it does not plan to obtain neutral status to participate in international competitions.
On Wednesday, the All-Russian Swimming Federation announced that Russian swimmers had begun to receive neutral status to participate in the World Cup. World Aquatics has issued the corresponding status to Nika Godun and Andrey Minakov.
“I have no desire to get a neutral status, I want to compete under the flag of Russia,” Rylov wrote on the Telegram channel in response to a subscriber’s question.
Rylov is 28 years old; at the Tokyo Games he won the 100 meters and 200 meters backstroke.
