One of the leaders of the Ukrainian national gymnastics team Diana Varinskaya finished sports career. Also, according to her, another titled gymnast Anastasia Bachinskaya stopped training.
“I don’t perform at all and I don’t train. After the Olympics, she was tired, then she had an operation. Then I wanted to recover and continue to perform, but I realized that I did not have enough strength and, most importantly, desire. Therefore, I decided to end my career, ”said the athlete.
Varynska also commented on the performance of the Ukrainian national team at the 2022 European Multisport Championship, where the Ukrainians failed to reach the final, finishing only 12th. According to her, the team lacks experience for this level of competition.
“I think that this team is much weaker [чемпионок Европы-2020]. The only gymnast who could show the result is Liza Gubareva, but she was injured and did not seem to have time to recover properly. Other girls have never performed at a high level.”
Varinska became the European champion in team competition in 2020. Diana also won bronze medals at the 2019 European Games in all-around and beam exercises.
The 2nd European Multisport Championship takes place in Munich from 11 to 21 August.
