The mother of 13-year-old figure skater Kostyleva explained the reasons for the athlete’s withdrawal from the stage of the Russian Junior Grand Prix.

The mother of figure skater Elena Kostyleva, Irina, said that her daughter would not participate in the All-Russian Ice of Dreams competition due to an injury sustained during training.

The Ice of Dreams tournament, which is a stage of the Russian Grand Prix junior series, will take place in Moscow from October 10 to 12. On Friday, the juniors will present short programs.

— Dear Léna fans. I have some sad news. Lena will not perform today on the Grand Prix stage in Moscow. She was injured during training. Many people wonder about the nature of the injury. She was injured three days ago. There is no fracture, they did an x-ray, but there was a big bruise. We hoped it would get easier as the competition approached, but no. There’s no point going to the Grand Prix with a sore foot. I insisted on withdrawing yesterday – without including Lena in the departure protocols. But the coach and Lena decided to wait for today’s warm-up before starting, ”Kostyleva Sr. wrote on his page on the VKontakte social network.

Kostyleva, 13, studies at the Plushenko Academy of Angels.
