Figure skater Lazarev spoke about changing the free program

Figure skater Lev Lazarev who won the Moscow stage of the Russian Junior Grand Prix, explained why he and his coach decided to change the free skate.

On Saturday, Lazarev won the stage in Moscow, scoring 258.40 points in total in two programs. Nikolay Kolesnikov took second place (228.91), Vadim Voronov won bronze (228.47).

— How would you rate your performance? Why did you return to last year’s program?

— You could say that I am satisfied with the rental. Of course, with the exception of the second quadruple Lutz. I don’t fall during training, even when I’m skating completely. But this time, I’m glad I finally got the hang of it. Before this start, I worked on it a lot. But the Perfumer program simply didn’t work. I think I will skate last year’s program this season. It might be easier to complete the jumping task, but I really like this music. The image of a bird is closer to me than the image of a perfumer.

— You have already made several starts in a row. What suits you best?

– It adds confidence. I was hardly nervous at all at the beginning. Before the short program and before the free program, I went out calmly. Not the same as during the first rentals. I was very worried then.

— Is this system normal for you?

— At the start of the season, it’s normal, then of course, when you enter the season, you don’t have to perform too well so as not to exhaust yourself before the important start, but for the moment it’s like that works. Let’s fill out the form.

—Where is your next stop?

“In Krasnoyarsk,” reports correspondent Lazarev’s words.

Lazarev is the winner of the 2024 Fed Cup final, a two-time silver medalist of the Russian Championship.
