The Ukrainian scored 16 points in the match
Ukrainian defender Svyatoslav Mikhailyuk made his debut with Utah in a pre-season match with San Antonio V National Basketball Association (NBA).
The Ukrainian spent about 17 minutes on the court. During this time, the defender scored 16 points (including 3 of 9 three-pointers), made one rebound and two assists.
In August, Svyatoslav formalized his relationship with the Jazz for four seasons (the first year worth $3.5 million is guaranteed) for $15 million. Utah general manager Justin Zanik called the Ukrainian a professional with experience playing in the league.
After the Ukrainian left the Boston Celtics, several Euroleague clubs were interested in his candidacy. Real Madrid and Panathinaikos were preparing to begin negotiations, and Olympiacos was also keeping an eye on the player.
Mykhailiuk played 49 games for the Celtics last season. In the playoff series, the Ukrainian averaged 1.0 points and 0.6 rebounds over eight games. During the season, the Ukrainian scored 4.0 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists.
Together with Boston, the Ukrainian defender became the NBA champion for the first time in his career. Mikhailyuk became the second Ukrainian after Stanislav Medvedenko with the championship title in the most prestigious basketball club tournament in the world.
Utah finished 12th in the Western Conference last season and failed to make the playoffs. The 2024-25 NBA regular season begins on October 22.
