The skaters were supposed to compete in the Grand Prix series next season, but decided to end their competitive careers.
The leaders of the Ukrainian national figure skating team, six-time champions of Ukraine, winners of the 2017 Universiade in Alma-Ata and participants in the 2018 and 2022 Olympic Games, Alexandra Nazarova and Maxim Nikitin, announced that they are finishing their professional careers. Suspіlne.
The skaters announced their decision by posting relevant posts on their Instagram.
“We worked as a couple for almost 20 years! Those were great times. There were a lot of funny moments, many times it’s hard and even painful! But all these 20 years were all exactly the best! We always perform first of all for to the audience.”

“And thank you very much to all the fans. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to do anything. We decided to end our sports career. But we don’t want to end with figure skating! We really want to continue to work and please you, but not as athletes!”.

Nazarova and Nikitin are nominated for two Grand Prix of the 2022/23 season: Skate America (USA) and Grand Prix de France (France). However, they withdrew from the competition on 12 August. And the next day found out why they made such a decision.
