Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova believes that in modern figure skating there is no athlete whose performances will be remembered for centuries.

—Who do you think is the most remarkable athlete?

— Among the pioneers, for example, Toller Cranston, who interpreted the music in such a way… You can’t even say that he skated to the music, he interpreted it in such a way that I remember it again and it gives me goosebumps. Of course, you remember Belousova and Protopopov, who came out and you understood that now there would be something extraordinary in love, but they didn’t even move.

— Are there such athletes now?

“There are no such exceptional athletes who will be remembered for centuries.

– For what?

“Maybe it’s the complexity that has made acting skills disappear, the inhuman complexity of quadruple jumps and complex twists that you perceive differently. You are delighted that this can be done. I want complex programs with new elements, but I don’t want to be afraid of them making mistakes. So that they can be done easily, musically and tell us about life and history.
