2012 Olympic medalist in swimming Yevgeny Korotyshkin considers the head of the Supreme Supervisory Council of the All-Russian Swimming Federation, Dmitry Mazepin, as an ideal candidate for the post of head of the new united aquatic federation.

On Tuesday, Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev supported Mazepin’s candidacy for the post of head of the Russian Swimming Federation.

— Dmitry Arkadyevich is an excellent candidate for the post of president of the United Federation. He has been supporting athletes in their careers for several years now. At the moment no better candidate can be found. I only support the decision to appoint Dmitry Arkadyevich Mazepin to this post; I will be happy to see him in his new position,” Korotyshkin told .

On October 1, the All-Russian Swimming Federation (RSF) proposed merging four aquatic federations into one. The new united federation is planned to include the FSM, the Russian Diving Federation, the Russian Water Polo Federation and the Russian Synchronized Swimming Federation.
