On Tuesday, Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev supported Mazepin’s candidacy for the post of head of the Russian Swimming Federation.

“We all hope that Mazepin will be a wise leader of the Russian Swimming Federation. The time has come when it is necessary to unite water sports into a single federation, as was done in other countries,” Pokrovskaya told .

On October 1, the All-Russian Swimming Federation (RSF) proposed merging four aquatic federations into one. The new united federation is planned to include the FSM, the Russian Diving Federation, the Russian Water Polo Federation and the Russian Synchronized Swimming Federation.

The electoral conference will take place on October 31 in Moscow.
