Fesikova: “Mazepin is an excellent leader, I am sure that with him swimming will take a step forward at the world level”

Olympic medalist, member of the Supreme Supervisory Council of the All-Russian Swimming Federation Anastasia Fesikova believes that when Dmitri Mazepine the united aquatics federation will take steps forward on a global scale.

On Tuesday, the Russian Minister of Sports Mikhail Degtiarev supported the candidacy of businessman Dmitry Mazepin for the post of head of the Russian Swimming Federation, which will unite the All-Russian Swimming Federation, the Russian Diving Federation, the Russian Water Polo Federation and the Russian Federation of synchronized swimming.

— What do you think of the unification of the federations? There are World Aquatics all over the world, but you were kind of spread out.

– We have always been together. I think unification will lead to success. Change is always difficult for us and for management, but everything is done for a reason. There is one world federation, there is one European federation, and we also have to optimize, move towards the goal together, so I really hope and believe that everything will work out for the best.

— The main thing is that the reorganization does not affect the athletes?

— Of course, it’s always the most important thing; all changes in the management and in the federation as a whole should not affect the athletes. The guys will also continue to train, of course, I would like to see more competitions and starts that would interest more spectators. Maybe it will be a kind of joint competition with diving and swimmers, it will be a big party. It is important for us to attract children and spectators to sports, this is our main task. I think after the merger all this will happen.

— This summer there was a tournament organized by the Russian Diving Federation and . Competitions should be publicized, right?

— Yes, I think that media visibility is the most important thing. We understand that synchronized swimming is more than just swimming, but it can all be combined into one big celebration of water sports and everything should be fine. I’m sure one day we’ll get there.

— You and Dmitry Mazepin know each other. What can you say about him?

— I am a member of the Supreme Supervisory Council of the All-Russian Swimming Federation and he is our president. This is what we know each other for, he is an excellent leader, I am sure that with him swimming will make even more progress on a global scale,” Fesikova told .
