Double world figure skating champion Eugene Medvedeva said on social networks that she could not start preparing for her show, because doctors prohibited her from going on the ice due to a large number of extraordinary premature heart contractions – extrasystoles.
— I have an ice show in November, and I actually have to go on the ice, but the doctors told me not to because I have a huge amount of extrasystoles. I feel them, and it really bothers me, actually, and I have to (take) a lot of pills, which is to say that I’m currently on treatment.
I was forbidden to go on the ice with these extrasystoles. Even though it’s time for me to get back in shape, I don’t go on the ice because I need to recover. The symptoms are all nervous. It responds, then haunts me – and (therefore) these extrasystoles. At least I know that everything is fine with me, that nothing threatens me. Thank you very much, this is good news, but of course it causes a lot of panic,” Medvedeva said.
Medvedeva is 24 years old. She is a two-time Olympic silver medalist, two-time world champion and two-time European champion. She also won bronze at the World Championships and silver at the European Championships.
