“Consolidation of the efforts of four aquatic federations will give the maximum effect” – head of the FSM Salnikov

President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation (RSF) Vladimir Salnikov spoke on about the positive changes that the merger of four aquatic federations into one will bring.

The new united federation is planned to include the FSM, the Russian Diving Federation, the Russian Water Polo Federation and the Russian Synchronized Swimming Federation. The electoral conference will take place on October 31 in Moscow. On Tuesday, Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev supported the candidacy of Dmitry Mazepin for the post of head of the Russian Swimming Federation.

“We all want our athletes to return to the international scene according to the sporting principle, that is, the best are selected. It is clear that World Aquatics is willing to take steps towards a merger. This opens up prospects for admitting athletes while retaining the basic principle: sports selection, lost during participation in the Olympic Games.

— What does the unification of federations imply?

— There are opportunities to act as a united force. We are all connected to water. We are also talking about programs to build new swimming pools. I am convinced that the consolidation of efforts will have the maximum effect,” Salnikov said in the program “There is a topic” on the channel.
