Vyalbe: “I don’t think about admission to the 2026 Olympic Games, it’s a utopia. Maybe they will invite someone individually.

Head of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe told that she does not believe in the full admission of Russian athletes to the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy.

15 Russian athletes competed at the Summer Games in Paris; they competed in individual neutral status.

— Is there a prospect of participating in the Olympic Games in Italy?

— I don’t think of any prospects. I think it’s a utopia. Someone can be invited individually, as was the case for the Summer Games.

— Team events will not be allowed?

– No chance, don’t hope.

– And the individuals?

— I think some individual athletes in some sports will meet the selection criteria.

— Doesn’t that depend on the election of the IOC president?

– Stop that, for God’s sake! Who will be (chosen)?

—There is a hall over there.

“Yes, everyone is involved in politics,” Vyalbe told on the sidelines of the “Russia is a sports power” forum in Ufa.

The elections for the head of the IOC will take place in March 2025 during a session in Greece. The current IOC President, Thomas Bach, previously announced that he would not be re-elected for a new term. The list of candidates for the position of president of the organization included Sebastian Coe, Juan Antonio Samaranch Jr., Kirsty Coventry, Johan Elias, David Lapartian, Morinari Watanabe and Faisal al-Hussein.
