Six-time Olympic champion and former Scottish track cyclist Chris Hoy has announced that he has been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer.
In an interview with The Times, the 48-year-old also said doctors estimate he has two to four years to live.
– You know, we are all born and die, and this is just part of the process. Remember: am I not lucky that there are medications that I can take for as long as possible? “Hand on my heart, most of the time I am positive and I feel sincere happiness,” Hoy said, according to the Times.
After the interview was published, Hoy also posted a post on his social media page in which he noted that he was feeling healthy and strong.
“You may have an update on my health this weekend, so I just want to reassure you that I’m feeling healthy, strong and positive.” I am overwhelmed by the love and support shown to me and my family. Before! — wrote Hoy.
Hoy has won the world championships 11 times.
