Veres’ coach called the “heavy and sticky” field one of the factors for the unsuccessful game in the first half.
Acting head coach Veresa Oleg Shandruk commented on his team’s draw in the away match of the 10th round UPL against Chernomorets (1:1).
“We had to fight back today. Therefore, we perceive this draw result more positively. Although, they could well have counted on more than a draw. The team wanted to win today, so all the players are disappointed with this result.”
“What prevented you from playing better in the first half? First of all, this is an opponent. We played against a good team. In the second half, Chernomorets won, and then they already played somewhere longer, giving us the initiative and the ball. The second factor is the field. For the first time in the championship we played on such a heavy and sticky field. We are used to training and playing on completely different fields. It took us a long time to get used to this field, it was noticeable that the team pulse rose very high, and there were a lot of technical defects in simple situations. Even from players who very rarely do this. Although, even with such a game without the ball, in my opinion, we did not deserve to lose before the break. Because Dmitry Godea had two very good moments.”
“Nothing special happened in our locker room at halftime. We are a strong team. I knew that we would improve after the break. The players from the bench played well in the game. We were counting on this too. We could have won this game. I think we were closer to victory today.”
Let us remind you that Veres lost the first half in Odessa due to an own goal by Evgeniy Morozko, but after the break he managed to win back through the efforts of Semyon Vovchenko.
Veres, with ten points, is in tenth place after ten rounds, right behind the Sailors. The unbeaten streak of the Rivne team already includes four matches. Shandruk’s team will play their next match at home against Vorskla on October 27.
