Figure skater Malinin: “The status of world champion puts a lot of extra pressure on me”

Figure skater Ilya Malinin After his victory at Skate America, he admitted that being a world champion put a lot of pressure on him.

“I am proud of my performance today and I am happy to have succeeded, despite the mistakes I made. I always try to remember that these things happen, you have to overcome them. The status of world champion puts a lot of extra pressure on me and I have to learn to deal with it,” Malinin said, as quoted by Golden Skate.

Malinin was born in the United States to the family of figure skaters Tatyana Malinina and Roman Skornyakov, who competed for Uzbekistan. Ilya is the 2024 world champion.
