High jumper Maria Kochanova received an Olympic prize in the amount of 2.5 million rubles for the result shown at the national championship, the press service of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) reports.
The athlete won the high jump competition at the Russian Championships in Yekaterinburg, clearing the bar at a height of 1.97 meters. This is better than the bronze medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (1.95 m).
— In accordance with the agreement signed by ARAF President Petr Ivanov with President of the International Boxing Association Umar Kremlev, track and field athletes who present at the Russian Championship results corresponding to the first three medalists of the Olympic Games completed will receive payments at the level of the largest official international competitions. Maria Kochanova was the only one who fulfilled this condition. The athlete has already received a bonus in the amount of 2.5 million rubles, ARAF said in a statement.
