“The ISU decision was not surprising. It was totally expected” – Gleikhengauz

Group choreographer Eteri Tutberidze honored coach of Russia in figure skating Daniel Gleikhengauz told that he was not surprised by the refusal of the International Skating Union (ISU) council to reconsider the issue of admitting Russian athletes to international competitions.

Previously, the ISU Council in Lausanne did not reconsider the issue of admitting Russians to international competitions.

— Were you surprised by the ISU’s decision not to review our suspension?

– Absolutely not, it was entirely planned. I hope we get a quota and the opportunity to qualify for the Olympics. At least one athlete in each event. If this happens, then there will be success.

— Is there any hope for the admission of juniors?

– Don’t think. If they are allowed, I will only be happy. Here, nothing depends on us,” Gleikhengauz told .

Russian figure skaters, speed skaters and short track speed skaters have been suspended from all international competition under the auspices of the ISU since 2022.
